We pride ourselves on the quality of our training experience, looking to produce lawyers who will be able and confident on qualification to make a significant contribution to the firm.
We aim to retain our trainees on qualification.
The training contract typically comprises four six month seats in a combination designed to meet both the preferences of trainees and the needs of the firm as a whole.
The Training Contract
As a corporate practice with related private client work we can offer comprehensive training over all the main areas of the law with direct client contact from an early start.
You will work closely with your supervisor, a partner or senior fee earner.
What we are looking for
Academic achievements - a degree, preferably with a minimum of 2:1 but we may consider a high 2:2 if there are mitigating circumstances;
Enthusiastic, confident, self motivated people;
Excellent communication skills;
Commercial awareness - an appreciation not just of the client's wider objectives, but also of the firm's objectives and focus.
Your Training Contract
Over the two year training period, you will spend at least six months working in three or four key areas.
In your first year your seat will be in
Corporate/Commercial, Commercial Property, Litigation or Family. In your second
year, depending on work flow, we will try to accommodate your training to suit
your interests. We will organise your Professional Skills Course in your second
year.
The Selection Process
At interview you will need to be confident and well presented.
You must demonstrate drive and ambition, good knowledge of the current
developments in law and current affairs, an understanding of the legal
profession and our particular clients and services.
