Dragon Boat Race

Lee & Priestley LLP entered a team in the Dragon Boat Race at Clarence Dock on Saturday 26th June, organised by the Leeds Community Foundation (LCF). Our theme was Noah and the Ark, with Senior Partner, Jonathan Oxley playing the part of Noah / drum beater, and members of staff doubling up as a variety of animals including cows, zebras, crocodiles, leopards, monkeys, lions, lady birds and ducks.  We raised almost £450 for the charity and won an award for Best Fancy Dress (we have a trophy to prove it too!).

28 teams took part in the event, including a variety of corporate firms.  Each team crewed a 40ft long boat, which was powered by 16 paddlers and a drummer.  The 3 fastest teams on the water got put through to a final race. Unfortunately, our times were not fast enough to get us into the final but we did win all 3 of our races on the day.

It was a great day and lots of money got raised for the charity which "helps improve the quality of life of people living in disadvantaged communities by making financial grants to support local organisations and charitable groups, of which there are over 3,000 in Leeds.”
