Lee & Priestley Recruit Commercial Property Specialist
08/Oct/2008

Lee & Priestley LLP, the Leeds-based law firm, has appointed Matthew Thompson as an Associate in its Property Department.   The firm is defying market conditions, continuing its recruiting programme by strengthening its team of commercial property lawyers and building on its reputation for excellence.

Matthew spent several years at the Leeds office of Pinsent Masons where his workload largely focused on development projects, landlord & tenant and PFI projects.  He then joined Cobbetts’ Leeds office in 2003 where he acted for property developers.

Matthew has also worked at Freehills in Melbourne Australia where he was involved in very high value development and landlord & tenant matters.

Matthew, who enjoys travel, speaks French, is a keen golfer and coaches cricket.

David Coleman, partner and Head of Property Department at Lee & Priestley said: “We are pleased to welcome Matthew to the commercial property team.  Further recruitment at this time is a testament to the strength and focus of the firm. Matthew’s mix of skills and experience will be an asset to the firm and he will complement an already strong team.”

Matthew said:  “The Lee & Priestley Property Department is very well-respected and the partners highly-regarded. I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue my career in a firm with such a strong reputation. I’m also excited to be involved in some of Lee & Priestley’s recent initiatives such as the specialist property management arm propRTworks*.

*propRTworks is part of Lee & Priestley LLP and comprises a specialist team of lawyers offering a “one stop shop” providing all landlord and tenant legal services required by commercial property investors using menu pricing.
